When using this map to find us, keep in mind that we are in the back or end of the park. Once you are inside the park, follow the main road to the end. On this Google map, we are located at the beginning of Cougar Trail.
Our primary layout is a 30' x 50' HO Scale layout which was constructed beginning in 1998. This layout is a double main line loop which travels over three peninsulas. It also has a "high line" which is a dual gauge line and models the logging industry similar to Cass Scenic Railroad. The HO layout operates using NCE digital command control.
The highlight of this layout are modeled renditions of Charleston, West Virginia; Hawk's Nest; and Thurmond, West Virginia; as they appeared in the late 1950's. You can see samples in the photo gallery. Our modeling is primarily Chesapeake and Ohio influenced, but members also operate trains from other American roads.
We also have a 4' x 12' N Scale layout. It is a double main line with two yards set in the mountains of West Virginia.
The KVRA has completed its 15' x 20' modular layout. We regularly attend area train shows. In the meantime, our module is set up at our club for your viewing. The module gives us the opportunity to bring a traveling HO Scale layout to train shows and other events in order to share the fun of model railroading with the community. See our events page for our next show.
